This week, we’re honored to share Tre’s  story and the path that brought her to Bikram Yoga.

What started as a spontaneous decision to walk into a yoga class after an injury quickly turned into a life-changing journey of healing, resilience, and purpose.

My name is Tre Herrera, back in 2010, I was a single mom with two little ones — five and three years old — working as a medical assistant in a family practice office.

Every day on my lunch break, I’d drive past this yoga studio and think, “I should try that someday.” But life was busy, and someday never seemed to come.

Then one day, life decided for me. I injured my neck so badly that I couldn’t lay down or even sit up on my own for a week.

Once I finally regained some movement, I knew I had to do something — I just didn’t feel right. That’s when I remembered the yoga studio. I had no idea what to expect, but I figured a good stretch might help my neck.

After class, once I cooled off and drank some water, I felt incredible — better than I had in years. My neck pain was gone, my body felt lighter, and for the first time in ages, I slept through the night.

I was hooked.

Before yoga, the voice in my head used to say, “Well, this is just part of life — we get older, we get injured, and that’s how it is.”

After yoga, that voice changed to, “Wow! I can actually change my body and mind just by moving!”

By my second class, I knew I wanted to become a teacher.

The peace, encouragement, and knowledge my teachers shared — the way they brought people together — it inspired me deeply.

And the community! Everyone was so welcoming, supportive, and real.

I wanted to be that person for others — someone who helps people find strength, pride, and peace through taking care of themselves.

To be continued…
