FRESH SEASON, FRESH ROUTINE

September brings a natural shift. Summer winds down, routines settle back into place, and we begin looking ahead to the final months of the year.

It’s also the perfect time to recommit.

Not by starting over or trying to do everything at once, but by returning to the habits that help us feel strong, grounded, and well. Momentum is built one class, one choice, and one day at a time.

Throughout September, we’ll be exploring what it means to Build Momentum—creating consistency, strengthening our routines, and continuing to show up for ourselves even when life gets busy.

And sometimes, the best reminder of what consistency can do comes from someone who has experienced that transformation firsthand.

This week, we’re sharing Carla Bacchetti’s story. Read on to find out how long it took her to find the momentum that propelled her forward.

TEACHER SPOTLIGHT

Hello, my name is Carla Bacchetti.

Before I started yoga, I was constantly stressed and dealing with nagging physical issues—GI troubles and extreme leg cramps that would wake me up in the middle of the night.

I felt worn down and knew something had to change.

I still remember my first class vividly—it felt crazy at first, but when it was over, I felt incredible.

My body felt lighter, and for the first time in a long while, I felt calm.

About a month in, I noticed something shift. I no longer needed to convince myself to go to class; I just went. It became part of my life—something I truly wanted, not something I had to force.

That consistency changed everything for me.

After practicing for about five years, I realized I wanted to give back to the community that had given me so much.

Becoming a teacher was my way of doing that—of helping others find the same peace, strength, and clarity I had found on the mat.

In my classes, my hope is that students feel supported and safe, just as I always did.

The energy I bring is calm, clear, and encouraging. Because yoga is so much more than just sweating in a hot room.

If you’ve ever felt run down by life, this practice can calm your mind and body, helping you reconnect with what truly matters.

FINDING MEDITATION IN THE PRACTICE

We continue sharing tips from long-time practitioner Karen J. These come from her journal of “best practices”—a compilation of detailed and specific tips that have helped her make the most of her time in the hot room.

“1 . Your mat is fine, the constant adjusting throughout class signals lack of focus. Become grounded and deliberate with motions.

2. Leave the hand towels at home! The sweat is your friend! The towel is a distraction and the more you wipe, the harder you’ll sweat.

3 . In between postures, find stillness. Relax your arms down to your sides, avoid hands on hips and other “jazz” hands gestures.

4 . Keep your eyes open so you don’t get dizzy. Blinking helps!

5 . Some instructors offer a water break before Triangle pose. Do you need water, or just want it? In life, you won’t always be offered comfort, so work on self discipline.”
