MY BREAKING POINT
Written by Cheryl Nalls

After the weight gain and constant aches, I knew something had to change so I booked my first 90-minute Bikram hot yoga class.

Let me be clear, my opinion of yoga? Boring, slow, not challenging enough.

Boy was I wrong.

Five minutes in, I was sweating from body parts I didn’t know existed, gasping for air, and mentally planning my escape route. It was hot, I needed water. But, apparently “water breaks” were not allowed yet. Wow..

Who invented this torture. Lol After we finished the standing series and laid on the floor, I felt like a warrior who ‘d just survived battle.

If I can survive breast cancer, I knew I could survive this class.

I’m a survivor, Bring it on.

I felt euphoric at the end of class. My body felt amazingly strong. Turns out Bikram yoga is not boring or slow, it’s more like a heart pumping sport disguised as yoga.

I was hooked. Immediately I signed up for my next class.

My name is Cheryl Nalls, and if I can survive breast cancer,

I can survive anything…

Including my first Bikram yoga class.
